As European Governments grapple with the seemingly opposing agendas to provide sufficient secure, reliable, clean and affordable energy, this event will explore the most pressing barriers to be overcome for Norway and the UK to become the future power region of Europe.

The event will be moderated by Stephen Bull, Chair of Renewable UK and include short presentations and a panel discussion with excellent speakers.

The event, skillfully moderated by Stephen Bull, the esteemed Chair of Renewable UK, showcased a series of enlightening presentations and captivating panel discussions. NS Nordics also had the opportunity to interact with distinguished guests including H.E. Ms. Jan Thompson CMB OBE, Andreas Bjelland Eriksen, Thor Anders Nummedal, Ana Musat, Kjetel Digre, Stine Vethe, and Stephen Bull. Engaging with these notable personalities allowed us to exchange ideas, forge meaningful connections, and gain deeper insights into the challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.

The event also accentuated the pivotal role that NS Nordics can help in advancing renewable energy ambitions in Norway and the UK, acting as a catalyst for progress and spearheading the development of robust and innovative solutions that address the multifaceted challenges faced by European governments.

Speakers:

H.E. Ms. Jan Thompson CMB OBE, has been appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway in succession to Mr Richard Wood.We are delighted to welcome the new British Ambassador having taken up her appointment this April 2023.

Andreas Bjelland Eriksen – State secretary for the Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in the Department of Oil & Energy, Bjelland Eriksen comes from having been the first advisor for the Energy Regulatory Authority in NVE (2017 – 2020) and political advisor for the Labour Party’s committee for Business and Trade until he became State Secretary in 2021.

Thor Anders Nummedal- Statnett, Head of Business Development, Offshore Development since 2021, Nummedal has more than 30 years of experience in energy business in a range of fields from Oil & Gas, Power Production and Electricity Grid development including Engineering, Licensing, Technology and Development & Construction works in large projects onshore and offshore. Nummedal was the Project Director for development and construction of the North Sea Link to UK.

Ana Musat – Renewable UK, Executive Director for Policy & Engagement, Ana oversees the trade association’s policy work across all renewable technologies, as well as the programme of engagement with members, media and other external stakeholders. Her role is to deliver policy change that accelerates the transition to a renewables-based energy system that delivers socio-economic benefits for the UK.

Kjetel Digre – Aker Solutions, CEO with extensive experience from the oil and gas industry, most recently in Aker BP as SVP Operations and Asset Development, as well as 25 years in Equinor where he held several positions within project execution and field development

Stine Vethe – Aker Solutions, Vice President of Offshore Wind Foundations, Vethe has long been a champion of substainable business models, beginning her career at 4Subsea and shifting over to Wind Energy in 2020.

Stephen Bull – Moderator – Stephen Bull was appointed head of Strategy, Portfolio and Sustainability in April 2023 after leading the Renewables business since August 2021. The Briton has more than 20 years of industry experience, most recently as SVP of wind and low-carbon in Equinor’s renewables business area. Bull is Chair of Renewable UK,the largest renewable energy industry association in the UK, and has served on expert panels for the UK Government covering low-carbon solutions. solutions.
